A structure discovered within the Roman villa of Els Munts has been interpreted by its excavators as a Mithraeum and, if this identification is correct, it would rank among the largest known Mithraic sanctuaries in the Roman world. The building consists of a long hall flanked by raised benches and preceded by an antechamber, a layout broadly comparable to the biclinium-like arrangement characteristic of many Mithraic shrines.
