Inscription of Iulius Pyrrus

This inscription to Zeus Helios Mithras Serapis by a certain Ioulios Pyrros is now lost.

This text, now lost, is known from the transcription by Cyriacus of Ancona in the 15th century, who saw it in Heraclea in Pontus. The dedication of Iulius Pyrrus, in Greek, was engraved on a colossal base one metre twenty high.

Main inscription

Διὶ Ἡλίῳ Μίθρᾳ Σέραπι Ἰούλιος Πύρρος εὐξάμενος ἀν[έθηκεν].
To Zeus Helios Mithras Serapis, Ioulios Pyrros made a vow of consecration.
