Mithrastempel in Virunum. Aus Forschung und Kunst, vol. 28

Gernot Piccottini

Monograph in German dedicated to the Mithraic temple found in Virunum in 1992.
The New Mithraeum

During excavations in the area of the former Roman provincial capital of Virunum in 1992, the most spectacular find was a bronze building inscription for a Mithras temple restored around 183/184 AD, on which 98 members of the cult community were subsequently recorded by name. This inscription is the largest Roman bronze inscription panel in Austria to date.
