Inscription of Mamilius Capitolinus from Astorga

An inscription from Asturica (modern Astorga) recording a dedication to Jupiter Optimus Maximus, Sol Invictus and Liber Pater by Q. Mamilius Capitolinus, juridical legate and later prefect of the Treasury of Saturn, for the welfare of himself and his family.

Mamil(ius) Capitolinus / iurid(icus) per Flaminiam / et Umbriam et Picenum / leg(atus) Aug(usti) per Gallaeciam dux leg(ionis) VII [g(eminae)] p(iae) [f(elicis)] / praef(ectus) aer(arii) Sat(urni) pro salute / sua et suorum.A marble altar known since the early modern period, formerly built into the municipal buildings of Astorga and now lost.
