Mithraic sanctuary area at Vetera

At some distance north of the Roman Camp and in the neighbourhood of the Roman pottery of the Legio XX and of the Legio XXX, two altars and a base were found in 1877. These objects discovered before the so-called Scharntor indicate that here must have been a Mithraeum.
