Sol bust from Strasbourg

Small bronze bust of Sol with five rays found at Strasbourg, ancient Argentoratum, during construction works in the 1860s–70s; associated with the Mithraic assemblage from the city.

Forrer, MH 107; Als. Rom., fig. 51 mentions a small bronze bust of Sol with five rays around his curled hair. It was found at Strassburg during the construction of a new protestant Grammar School (1863–1873).
