Altar of Iucundus from Sisak

Sisciae in area castelli.CIL III 3960; MMM II No. 352.D(eo) i(nvicto) M(ithrae) / Iucundus Aug(usti) n(ostri) / disp(ensator) p(rovinciae) P(annoniae) s(uperioris) / porticus et ap[p]aratorium ex voto fec(it).The inscription records that Iucundus, an imperial dispensator of Pannonia Superior, fulfilled a vow by constructing a porticus and an apparatorium, evidently ancillary spaces belonging to a Mithraic sanctuary. It therefore provides epigraphic evidence for a Mithraeum at Siscia, although the sanctuary itself has not been archaeologically located.
