The Mithraeum of Trier has been found during works on the site of a new fire station on Südallee, one meter below below the depot of the demolished police station headquarters of the city. The ancient temple was destroyed and abandoned towards the end of the 4th century AD, as evidenced the coins found in the rubble of the site.

A limestone relief from Cautes, found in situ, was spared.
