Penthelic marble statue of a standing torchbearer in Eastern attire, cross-legged, with head and torch arm broken off, probably 2nd century A.D., found at Antium (modern Anzio).

Statue of penthelic marble (H. 1.12 with base) found at Antium.
Taken to Oxford in 1755 by Dowager Countess of Pomfret. Now at the Ashmolean Museum (Oldfield coll.).
Standing torchbearer in Eastern attire. Cross-legged; feet-wear; a belt around his chest. The head and r.h. with upraised torch are broken off. The base, r. foot and l.h. are modern restorations. Probably 2nd cent. A.D.
