Peter Mark Adams challenges current academic conventions by restoring the term ‘mysteries’ to the cult of Mithras while offering a deep, well-informed, and nuanced point of view. His new book, ‘Ritual & Epiphany in the Mysteries of Mithras’, is a thought-provoking and rich contribution to Mithraic studies.

It presents a sharp and original perspective, essential for anyone interested in Mithraic studies. The work stands out for its profound exploration of Orphic influences and theurgy within the cult of Mithras. It breathes new life into long-overlooked aspects of this ancient and arcane tradition.
