The New Mithraeum
A survey of the art of ancient Armenia from the sixth century BCE to the third century CE, bringing together archaeological evidence for sculpture, architecture, monumental painting and decorative arts. Of particular relevance to Mithraic studies is Arakelyan’s discussion of sculptural fragments discovered at Artashat, including material found near a sanctuary of the solar god and tentatively associated with a representation of Mithras slaying the bull.
