Hey Behzad! I’m currently reading into Gnosticism and am hoping to make an article for the site comparing and contrasting it to Mithraism soon!

Hi Matthew,

Am I the only person to have noticed the similarities between the Mithraic tauroctony and cattle mutilations? Cattle mutilations, which some associate with UFO phenomena, typically involve exsanguination and genital mutilation.
I see the snake and dog that lap blood from the Mithraic bull’s wounds, as an exsanguination. I see the scorpion in the tauroctony as a genital mutilator.

Not to but to fine a point on it, Mithras isn’t so much slaughtering the bull by slicing it’s throat, as mutilating the bull by stabbing it’s shoulder.

Am I wrong?
